Internationally recognized as a Master Floral Designer with expertise in event personalization, Petal’s talent extends throughout the disciplines of floral artistry. Petal specializes in innovative and creative floral compositions for resort interiors, corporate events, weddings, receptions, and social occasions of every variety. Her hands-on, personal approach is endearing to the client who will quickly appreciate her planning, designing and creating the perfect ‘expression of nature’ for their event. Petal’s influence stems from her childhood days with her mom, a design guru with a passion for flowers. “Color palates, placement, and balance were common, everyday concepts that were stressed throughout my childhood.” In pursuit of her vision, Petal soon earned an MBA and began her training in floral designs, which involved world travels and international studies in floral, fashion and color trends, gift and design concepts. To cultivate her visual sense for the latest design trends, special attention is given to the European design culture. Training and later instructing at L’ecole des Fleurs (The School of Flowers) in Paris and attendance at shows such as Maison & Objet (Home Décor and Trends Show, Paris) contribute to the latest cutting-edge designs she brings to her clients.
Petal’s artistic skills were developed under the direction of world-famed designers, Christian Tortu and Catherine Muller. She also studies and incorporates the artistry of Daniel Ost of Belgium and Jeff Leatham of the Four Seasons in Paris. Petal’s design approach is a unique infusion of natural floral elements to create elegance with a touch of European artistry.
Diversifying her style, Petal has also studied and practiced Japanese floral design, Ikebana, in Tokyo, Japan and other Asian styles from the Far East. Rounding out her floral education, Petal is a graduate of the highly acclaimed Rittners School of Floral Design in Cambridge, MA.
Petal believes her art has simple purpose, to arouse appreciation of fine floral, and, perhaps even more, curiosity and dreams of the exotic. Her design mantra is “strive for natural elegance.” She focuses on expression, simplicity and color. “My design approach is to present something new, visually fascinating and at the same time maintain a sense of nature to enjoy the simple pleasures of beauty. I try to incorporate elements of the outdoors when possible. Floral designs should invoke a sense of tranquility and feeling “alive” within observers; floral beauty is a dedication to the art of living.”
